What Is Marketing?

What Is Marketing

The definition of marketing is the activity, set of institutions and the process of creating, communicating and delivering offers that have value for customers. Modern marketing began in the 1950s when people started print media to endorse products and then it moved to TV’s and finally internet, making it easier for marketers to enter households to campaign.

There are many different types of marketing that are either organic or inorganic marketing. Organic marketing involves authentic and value-based methods that are not paid. Inorganic marketing involves paying money to show your ads to users. At Bold Media, we specialize in both organic and inorganic marketing to give you all your marketing options.

Our marketing services include: website design, search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing, local search optimization, social media management, social media advertising, email marketing and content creation.

Marketing is necessary in all stages of a business and can be used in many different ways to build brand loyalty over time. To break things down, there are the 4 P’s of Marketing:

  • Product – Is there a market fit for this product? Who is your target audience?
  • Price – Check out competitors’ product prices to know how you should price your product accordingly
  • Place – It is important to know where to place your product to sell best such as retail location or ecommerce site
  • Promotion – promoting your product through online/print advertising or discounts to increase awareness about your product

Digital Marketing Trends

Technology keeps on advancing and with that being said there are some digital marketing trends to focus on this year and a major one is the increased interaction between brands and consumers to make marketing more human again. This is the year of focusing on customer experience and the growth of online content has given consumers more power to research you and your product. Another trend that we will be seeing more of is voice search but that doesn’t mean we should neglect visual content either. Research has shown that people prefer to see dynamic visual content over plain text along with personalization. 80% of consumers say they are more likely to do business with a brand that provides personalized experience, says survey by Epsilon.
